Indian National Memory Championship 2017

Hyderabad, 15th October 2017: The World Memory Sports Council for India has organized 8th Indian National Memory Championship 2017 on 15th October 2017, Sunday at Jal vihar, Necklace Road, Hyderabad.

This is done under the leadership of Squadron Leader Jayasimha, the President World Memory Sports Council for India and multiple Guinness World Record Holder. More than 300 Memory athletes/ students/ teachers/ adults/ professionals from all over India have participated in this championship.

This is supervised and monitored by Mr Phil Chambers, the Chief Arbiter World Memory Sports Council and Mr David Zhang, President World Memory Sports Council Asia Pacific Region.

Why Memory Sports?

There are world championships for virtually every physical sport like Swimming, Boxing, Foot Ball, Cricket, Hockey and Athletics and so on and on and on…

Yet there was no world championships for that most important cognitive function of all, and without which none of the others could exist – MEMORY!

World Memory Sports Council had taken up the initiative to organize Memory Sports across the Globe. In this direction, National Memory Council for India under the aegis of World Memory Sports Council has organised the Indian National Open Memory Championships – 2017 on 15th October 2017, Sunday at Jal vihar in Hyderabad (India).

Aim:

The aim of the National Memory Council of India is to showcase the Indian Brain Power to the whole World and ultimately produce a World Memory Champion from India.  Squadron Leader Jayasimha, Multiple Guinness World Record Holder and the President of World Memory Sports Council had been working towards promoting the Memory Sports in India. He had trained numerous students, adults, professionals and trainers in the field of Memory. His goal is to organize World Memory Championships in India in 2020. Learning these memory techniques and practicing them not only will help keep the brains sharper but also help them to apply these techniques in academics and day to day life.

Categories :

The Indian Memory Championship is organized under the following categories :

Kids :    Age 12 years or under. Born in 2004 or after

Junior : Age 13 to 17 years : Born 1999 – 2003

Adults : Age 18 to 59 years : Born 1957 – 1998

Senior : Age 60 years and above : Bore before 1957

 

Disciplines :

The participants have been tested in the following 10 memory disciplines :

1. Memorising Names and Faces

2. Memorising Binary Numbers

3. Memorising Random Numbers

4. Memorising Abstract Images

5. Memorising Speed Numbers

6. Memorising Historic / Future Dates

7. Memorising Random Playing Cards

8. Memorising Random Words

9. Memorising Spoken Numbers

10. Memorising Speed Cards

There are marks allotted for each discipline. The Memory Athlete with the highest overall score of these 10 disciplines is declared as the winner.

Event Schedule :

The Championship will began at 9 am.

Lighting of the lamp and declaration of Championship Open was done by Dr Francis Xavier, Father of Memory in India & Guru who trained Squadron Leader Jayasimha in Memory.

There after 10 events  happened under the personal supervision of Mr Phil Chambers, Chief Arbiter World Memory Sports Council and Mr JSP Raj &MrPavan Bhattad. 

There was a Tea break at 11 am.

Lunch break at 1 pm

Tea break at 3.30 pm.

The Championship got over by 5 pm.

There was a Cultural Program comprising of Magic Show, Dance, Mugic by Magic Chaplin Mr Chokkapu Venkata Ramana & team.

The award ceremony  began at 6.30 pm

Dinner was served at 7.30 pm.

Departure at 8 pm.

Prize Money, Trophies, Medals and Certificates :

The winner was awarded the title, “The Indian National Memory Champion 2017”, a trophy, a certificate along with Prize Money of Rs 1,00,000/-. The First Runner up was awarded a trophy, a certificate along with a prize money of Rs 50,000/-. The Second runner up was awarded a trophy, a certificate along with a prize money of Rs 25,000/-

In each event, the toppers were awarded a Medal and a certificate.

In each category of Kids, Junior, Adult and Senior Category – all the three toppers were awarded medals and certificates.

All the participants were awarded with Participation Certificate.

The scores of the participants in the championship were displayed on the www.nationalmemorycouncilofindia.com website and also www.worldmemorychampionships.com website and www.jayasimha.in website as well.

The top 30 participants from this will get eligibility to represent India at World Memory Championships being held in China in December 2017.

India Book of Records Certificates :

The event was also being monitored and officially supervised by the India Book of Records adjudicators. The toppers in each event were awarded an “India Book of Records Certificate” and their photographs and names will be there in the India Book of Records.

The event is being organised under the aegis of World Memory Sports Council with the blessings and best wishes of Mr Raymond Kenee OBE, the Global President World Memory Sports Council.

Prince Mohsin Ali Khan will be conveying his video message from London to all the Indian Memory athletes.
