China Town is hosting Cantonese Food festival starting on Chinese New Year, at its restaurant on Cathedral Road starting January 31st till February 16th. It is the right occasion to indulge in authentic Cantonese cuisine at China Town, while you rejoice the dawning of ‘The year of Horse’. Cantonese cuisine is one of the Eight Culinary Traditions of Chinese cuisines infused with fresh ingredients, to retain the unique flavour and texture of each dish.
The festival will showcase a wide spread of Cantonese appetizers, soups and salads, and vegetarian and non-vegetarian main course variety with a fine touch of delicious desserts. The Cantonese food festival also offers choices of claypot, finely served with sauce of one’s choice, for both vegetarian and meat lovers. The combination of seafood used in signature meat dishes, giving it a distinctive savory quality, is a must try!
Lobster and asparagus with black fungus in chicken broth; Chicken, tomato bok choy egg drop soup; eight treasure thick soup are some of the exclusive soup varieties followed by Prawn and pomello and Cantonese vegetable salad choices.
China Town’s signature vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers include- Mixed vegetables in spicy yoghurt sauce, Vegetables with cashew nuts wrapped in lettuce leaf and Lobster with ginger and scallions (charged by 100gms weight), Crispy spring roll with crab meat and shrimps, respectively.
Exclusive Cantonese main course offerings include- Wok fried prawns with white asparagus in black bean sauce, Chang tan prawn, Tenderloin tossed with shiitake mushrooms and broccoli in oyster sauce served on a bed of bok choy.
Prawn and broccoli with oyster sauce, Cantonese vegetables, Vegetables with cashew nuts, Seafood or vegetable fried rice wrapped in lotus leaves and steamed, are some of the clay pot delicacies served. Chicken, Tenderloin, Seafood and Vegetarian Cantonese chow mein, Crispy noodles topped with choice of meat or vegetables in a delicate sauce, are also part of the exclusive Cantonese Food festival.
Some of the dessert varieties include sai mai lo (sago and cantaloupe pudding), longans with vanilla ice cream, to name a few.
