Cauvery water reaches Tamil Nadu
SALEM/DHARMAPURI: The water released by Karnataka reached Biligundlu, the entry point of Hogenakkal, on Wednesday. Central Water Commission (CWC) officials said the water reached the border at 7 pm and will reach the falls tonight.
The exact amount being received and flow would be measured on Thursday morning.
Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday pressed for all-party meetings and increased security for Tamils in Karnataka. But state government sources said there was no need for such meetings.
Parts of Karnataka including Bengaluru saw turmoil. Over 150 farmers were arrested when they tried to enter Kabini dam to stop the release of water.
