GOOD FRANCE 2018: A Global Culinary Extravaganza
Chennai, 21stMarch: GOOD FRANCE, the global culinary extravaganza, over the years received increasing acclaim worldwide, from connoisseurs of Food & Beverage specialists around the world. Ever since the event went international in 2015 and in its 4thinternational edition, it has proved to be a resounding success, upholding the decision of UNESCO to put “gastronomic meal of the French” on the intangible cultural heritage list.
Year 2017 witnessed over 2,100 participating restaurants in 150 countries serve an astounding 250,000 meals to 8,000 guests, through the auspices of 156 embassies. Year 2018 is set to witness over 3000 restaurants in 150 countries participate, demonstrating France’s positive values with the warmth associated with the pleasures of French cuisine.
Ms Catherine Suard, Consule générale à Pondichéry and Chennai & CONSULAT GENERAL DE FRANCE, was amazed with the way the inspiration of French Culinary Specialist has turned over in a little over 200 years. Diners d’ Epicure inspired by Auguste Escoffier in 1912 now is a global extravaganza spanning 150 countries. “Chefs integrate vitality, modernity and responsibility with gastronomy to produce a global revolution that is justly famous for its warmth associated with the pleasures of good food”, spoken by Ms Suard.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Daniel Chao, General Manager, Novotel ibis Chennai OMR and Cluster General Manager of AccorHotels Chennai, said: “I will also have the pleasure of rolling out Good France in Chennai on Wednesday- the 21st March at the Alliance Française, where the participating four hotels, Novotel Chennai OMR, ITC Grand Chola, Novotel Chennai Sipcot and The Park will presentsome of their signature dishes as a highlight of this year’s event. I’m looking forward to discovering how each of those talented chefs interpret French Cuisine. Mr Ajay Sampige, General Manager, Novotel Chennai Sipcot said: “It’s our 3rd year of participation in the “Good France” event. Rahul, our Exec Chef, has curated an amazing menu that represents the diversity of French Cuisine, of course, with some ingredients from the local market, a perfect blend in the end. The menu was approved by Master Chef Alain Ducasse. This exclusive event has been a great success for us to mark Novotel Sipcot’s cuisine in Chennai. The curated menu is available at “The Square” in Novotel Chennai Sipcot for a week commencing 21st March 2018.
Mr Rajesh Radhakrishnan, General Manager of The Park Chennai said: “We have participated in the Gout De France event since its inception in the year 2015. It is a great opportunity for the Chefs at The Park Chennai to showcase their repertoire of skills. Being one of the few hotels / restaurants in the city to be selected to showcase our excellence in French Gastronomy at a global event such as this, is a great honour for The Park Chennai. It is a fantastic way to connect with French culture and cuisine. We have received a wonderful response to the event from all our guests, local and expatriate, over the years”.

This festival in particular serves to be a wonderful opportunity and platform for us to appreciate and showcase the goodness of French Cuisine which has a rich culinary history and is an evolving one”.
An international selection committee of chefs, supported by the Embassies, has approved the list of participating chefs and ensure the quality and coherence of the menus.
The official list of participating chefs has been unveiled on the 6th of March during a press conference at Quai d’Orsay (Paris).
