Hindu Munnani leader Sasikumar case transferred to CBCID
Coimbatore: The murder case of Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar has been transferred to the CBCID. An order was issued today by DGP T K Rajendran, directing the Coimbatore police to immediately hand over all documents related to the case to CBCID. Sasikumar (36) was hacked to death by four unidentified men in Coimbatore on the night of September 22 while he was on his way home.
Sasikumar was murdered only after the police had withdrawn protection provided to him two weeks ago, said Pon Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, on Monday.
Alleging that the Tamil Nadu police has failed to nab those behind the murder of Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar, BJP national secretary H Raja on Tuesday urged the government to hand over the probe into the case to CBI.
Meanwhile, video footage from cameras installed at strategic locations and shops have enabled police to nab around 80 persons who allegedly indulged in violence during the funeral procession of the Hindu Munnani functionary on September 23.
In Chennai, DMK president M Karunanidhi condemned the violence triggered in the wake of the murder, in which shops, places of worship and residences of those from other communities came under attack. Messages reveal that the murder was committed by a gang of hired killers who have, of late, been bumping off men.
