Hundreds of devotees participated in the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2
The Annual Jagannath Rath Yatra was held today 12th January, 2018 (Friday) under the auspices of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Chennai Chapter., in a grand manner. This is the 35th edition of the Rath Yatra conducted by ISKCON in Chennai.
The Rath Yatra started from Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore and reached the venue Chetpet, Kuchalambal Kalyana Mandapam in the evening. During the procession, ISKCON distributed about 10,000 plates of prasadam to the general public. Devotees enthusiastically pulled the Rath, shouting the holy name “Hare Krishna!”.
The history of Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra festival in Chennai dates back to 1983. ISKCON is doing this annual ritual since 1983, the biggest Rath Yatra in Chennai, a wonderful and colourful parade which gives an opportunity for people to come together and pay their respects to the Lord Jagannath. Onlookers are delighted to see Lord Jagannath on a colourful cart, pouring out his mercy.
