Jayalalithaa opens 47 bridges through video conference
Chennai: TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa opened 47 bridges, including two flyovers, three railway bridges and one railway under bridge, totally worth Rs 304.57 crore, through video conferencing in the Secretariat today. She also inaugurated the Thirumangalam bridge in Chennai built at a cost of Rs 60.23 crore.
According to an official release, Jayalalithaa inaugurated a number of projects belonging to the highway and small ports departments. In Chennai, the flyover will benefit commuters and residents of Anna Nagar, Mugappair, Padi, Ambattur, Kolathur and Madhavaram.
While Erode district gets eight flyovers, in Salem it will be five and Virudhunagar, four. There will be three new flyovers each in Namakkal, Thanjavur and Villupuram and Coimbatore districts. Two flyovers each were thrown open to the public in Nagapattinam and Pudukottai districts.
Dindugul, Trichi, Cuddalore, Tirupur, Kanchipuram, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai districts got one flyover each. In Chennai, the Moolakadai flyover, built at a cost of Rs 49.55 crore, came into use. The two-way Coimbatore flyover, worth Rs 20 crore, was inaugurated near Ganapathi (Textools). The Chief Minister also declared open three railway under bridges in Chennai, Vellore and Coimbatore.
Apart from this, government buildings, built at a total cost of Rs 96 lakh in Salem and Ramanathapuram districts were inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
