Karunanidhi-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: DMK treasurer MK Stalin proclaimed today that a Karunanidhi-led DMK government will come to power in Tamil Nadu in 2016. Addressing a protest rally to condemn the alleged maladministration of the AIADMK-led state government, Stalin said that people will give a fitting reply to the wrong doings of the government and there is no doubt that a DMK government spearheaded by the party chief M Karunanidhi will come to power in Tamil Nadu.
The DMK has been witnessing some bickering among party representatives that as time nears the May 2016 state polls there could be a change in strategy and the son M K Stalin may be projected as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the DMK. Stalin has also been taking out various rallies independently across the state sending out clear signals about his emergence from out of his father's shadow.
However, in the protest rally after listing out the various "natural" and "man-made" disasters that have claimed several lives in Tamil Nadu every time the AIADMK is in power, Stalin went on to list out how efficiently his father and party Chief Karunanidhi handled issues whenever the DMK was in power.
"When he was in power and a similar situation of heavy rains was threatening to create a breach in the Red Hills reservoir, it was this same leader who had arrived at the secretariat at 4 in the morning and held an emergency meeting with all top officials.
As the then PWD minister, Durai Murugan, had to go to attend a personal bereavement, the then Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said he himself would go and personally inspect the Red Hills reservoir that very morning," Stalin pointed out amid loud cheers from party men gathered at the protest venue.
The 93-year old DMK chief, speaking later said that he endorsed all the views of Stalin on the poor functioning of the AIADMK government in its current term and in all its previous regimes.
Karunanidhi said that the people of Tamil Nadu will not allow themselves to be fooled anymore and also said that a fitting response to all the years of sycophancy displayed by the AIADMK representatives to please their leader will witness a democratic response from the people in the forthcoming state election.
DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and other party leaders including former union minister T R Balu and Dayanidhi Maran were among the others who shared the dais along with DMK's senior leadership at the protest rally.
