Rubella Awareness Walk held
International Inner wheel in association with Mehta’s Hospitals, Chetpet organized Rubella Awareness Walk on (11th February) at Elliots Beach, Besant Nagar. The walk was flagged off by chief guest Mr. Rohit Nathan, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police. Around 400 people including students from various womens’ colleges of the city participated enthusiastically.
Banners and placards displaying slogans in Tamil and English on dangers of ignoring rubella and the importance of vaccination were held by the students. Pamphlets with information on rubella virus were also distributed.
Mrs. Nalini Prabhakar, Past District Chairman, Innerwheel District 323 said, “We are actively involved in creating awareness on dangers of rubella virus and the importance of vaccination against rubella for more than 10 years now. With Government announcing the measles and rubella eradication program, this walk will have a great impact on the public.
Dr. Sunitha Sunil, DNB, Family Medicine, Mehta’s Hospitals said “We are very happy to be associated with such an initiative which is for the well being of women. Mehta Hospitals is well-known for Neonatal and Maternity care and therefore we will continue to support any initiative that targets women. Any young lady can walk into our hospital and get the vaccination done. The professional services will be rendered free.
Mrs. Padma Preetha Sumanth, District Chairman, and Mrs Vijayalakshmi Prabakar, Project Coordinator, Innerwheel District 323 was also present.
