Speaker P Dhanapal inaugurates ex-MLAs hostel in city
Chennai: Former MLAs coming from other parts of this State have a place to stay in Chennai now, thanks to the newly-inaugurated hostel building for them at Omandurar Estate.
The facility inaugurated yesterday by Speaker P Dhanapal in the presence of Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Edappadi K Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam is located at a short distance from Chennai Press Club.
Sources at the hostel building said that was constructed at a cost of Rs 39.63 crore and have 60 rooms. The hostel also has 8 rooms for special representatives arriving from other states. It is spread across 76,721 square feet. It has reception, dining room, retiring rooms too. It can accommodate 250 people.
Former MLAs have to book the rooms online and once they come here they have to register their thumb impression to avail it. The rent for the room is Rs 300 per day, former MLAs can stay here for five days a month.
The hostel is open for former MLAs and their families, while their friends are not allowed.
