Vilasini Ramani, who had alleged that she was harassed by the cab driver on Sunday night, said that when she asked the driver to stop driving fast, he asked her to get down from the cab near Anna University.

After getting down, when she tried to hail an autorickshaw, the driver reportedly threatened to slit her throat. She was on her way from Tiruvanmiyur to her house in Valsaravakkam.

Ms. Vilasini went to the police after the incident.

She said that she was distressed by the fact that when she approached the Nandambakkam police at 10.15 p.m. on Sunday, she was asked to go to the Guindy police station to file a complaint there.

“Police from the Nandambakkam station came home and took down my statement on Wednesday and I made it a point to tell them that they could not have expected me to go to another station late at night when I already was in danger of being followed by the cab driver,” she said.
