DVAC searches properties linked to former minister Senthil Balaji in TASMAC probe

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted coordinated searches across several districts in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities involving TASMAC’s liquor procurement and distribution 

Among the locations searched were the Karur residence of former minister and Coimbatore South MLA V. Senthil Balaji, premises linked to his associates, and private liquor manufacturing units in Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur and Coimbatore. Officials also carried out searches at locations in Chennai connected to TASMAC operations.

According to sources, teams arrived at Senthil Balaji’s ancestral residence in Rameswarapatti early in the morning, where his parents were questioned during the search. Police personnel remained deployed outside the property.

Searches were also conducted at the homes of several individuals believed to be associated with the former minister, including residences in Moorthipalayam, Koyampalli and Kothai Nagar. Officials additionally inspected the office of a TASMAC manager in Karur’s Industrial Estate.

In Pudukkottai district, investigators searched KALS Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. at Kallakottai near Gandharvakottai. Officials examined production records, purchase registers and other documents related to manufacturing and supply. Authorities have not disclosed whether any materials were seized

Another DVAC team led by Inspector Chithra carried out searches at Golden Vats Private Limited in Karnavur village near Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district. The anti-corruption agency has not yet issued an official statement detailing the scope or findings of the investigation.
