SRMIST celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA)-Chennai Chapter and SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai, celebrated 150th birth anniversary celebrations of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Essay writing and Elocution Competitions on Gandhian Values was conducted which was open to all Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Research Scholars. The competitions were conducted on various topics such as Cleanliness is next to Godliness, Cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment, Truth: Learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself, Simplicity: Giving up unnecessary spending, Khadi is not mere a piece of cloth but a way of life and My life is my message. Hundreds of students have participated in both the competitions.

Mr. Rahul Bandyopadhyay, won first prize in essay writing on “Truth: Learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself”,  Mr. Shubham Tripathi, won second prize in essay writing on “Cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment” and Ms. Heena Goldin, won third prize in essay writing on “Simplicity: Giving up unnecessary spending”.

Mr. Arpit Ranka, won first prize in elocution on “Truth: Learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself”, Ms. Rajni Soudararajan, won second prize in elocution on “My life is my message” and Mr. Rishav Chowdhury, won third prize in elocution on “Cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment”.

Dr. Kingsly Jeba Singh, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering, SRMIST has presented the prizes to the winners of the competitions.
