2027 ODI Cricket World Cup Qualifiers: Teams Secured So Far
Afghanistan has secured a direct spot in the 2027 ODI World Cup after defeating Ireland by three wickets in Belfast. This win gives Afghanistan an unassailable 2-0 series lead, as the first match was a washout. Due to this result, West Indies will once again need to qualify for the tournament after missing out for the first time since 1999.
Currently, Afghanistan joins top-ranked teams like Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, and Bangladesh who have already qualified based on their ICC rankings. Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe are also automatically included
The World Cup qualifiers will include 10 teams: Ireland and West Indies, along with the top four from the 2024–2026 Cricket World Cup League 2 and the top four from the 2027 Qualifier Play-off. Teams like the United States, Netherlands, and Scotland have already secured their places in these qualifiers.
Oman is currently fourth in the League 2 standings but hasn’t yet confirmed a qualifier spot. The final four teams from League 2 will compete in the Qualifier Play-offs to determine the last spots for the main event
