Punjab Association, Chennai is all set to celebrate Lohri festival with entertainment from Rodney and his band

Punjab Association, Chennai is all set to celebrate Lohri, the grand Indian harvest festival at Anna Adarsh Ground on 5th January, 2020. The festival notifies the end of the winter season and the last day of the month of Paush, a day known as “Makar Sankaranti”. Over 1000 Chennaites are expected to come together on this day to celebrate Lohri festival to spread joy and happiness.

The celebration begins during the late evening with friends and relatives gathering at a specially arranged venue. A bonfire is lit after the sun set signifying passing of the winter solstice with people start celebrating with singing and dancing to the tune of Lohri songs. With performance of Gidda and Bhangra to the beat of Dhol, the drums of Punjab, the celebration is expected to hit the skies.

This year, Punjab Association which takes the responsibility of conducting the Lohri Mela, every year will celebrate the Biradhari meet in advance. It had arranged Punjabi Brethren who will be entertaining the gathering with celebrity singers from Punjab followed by “Rodney and his band”, all set to entertain with latest Punjabi and Bollywood number for the first time in Chennai.

 The event is marked with the Punjab Tadka with Southern spice with performance of Lohri Hungama, sponsored by Vikram Aggarwal. Rodney and his band entertained Chennai for the first time with latest Punjabi and Bollywood numbers.
