The new Dry eye speciality clinic comprises of the latest and most advanced diagnostic technology with treatment options including the "Intense Pulse Light Therapy" which improves the quantity and quality of tears being produced by the eye. The therapy significantly reduces the signs and symptoms of dry eyes and specifically benefits those patient who do not find adequate relief with use of eye drops alone.

Dr. Sanjana Vatsa, Cornea and Refractive Surgeon, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, Indiranagar said that: “We have witnessed that the majority of people in the age group of 20 – 40 years complain of dry eyes and they are either working professionals or students who undergo online classes. Excessive use of electronic devices is known to affect eyes, commonly in the form of dry eyes. With over 30 percent increase in the recent months, we expect this to increase by a further 15 percent in the coming years.”

To ensure that one does not suffer from dry eyes, Dr. Vatsa recommended the usage of topical lubricating eye drops and gel to keep the eyes moist and hydrated. Moderate cases also require systemic medications in the form of tablets, in addition to eye drops. However, severe and chronic cases who do not respond well to topical or systemic medications can be benefited from advanced treatments such as “Intense pulse light therapy” to stimulate the glands around the eye to secrete more quantity and better quality of tears which help in significant improvement in the signs and symptoms of dry eyes.

Dr. Archana S, Regional Head – Clinical Services, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, Bengaluru, pointed out saying, “It is imperative the people do not ignore the symptoms of dry eyes.
