E.V. Velu returns to Chennai from Singapore, says he Will appear before DVAC on July 15
Senior DMK leader and former minister E.V. Velu has said he will cooperate with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) investigation into alleged irregularities in road infrastructure projects and will appear before investigators on July 15
Speaking after returning to Chennai from Singapore, Velu explained that his overseas visit was for medical treatment that he has been receiving regularly since 2016.
He stated that his travel had been planned well in advance and that he had secured the required visa through legal procedures. According to him, investigators were informed about his pre-booked journey when officials conducted searches at his residence.
The DVAC registered a case against Velu on June 24, alleging corruption and financial irregularities related to road contracts awarded and allegedly executed ahead of schedule during 2022.
His departure for Singapore during the investigation sparked debate over the issuance of a Lookout Circular. Velu, however, maintained that he had travelled only for treatment and said he would fully assist the investigation upon his return.
