Experience AI educational programme comes to classrooms in India through Raspberry Pi Foundation and University of Southampton Delhi partnership

University of Southampton Delhi is delighted to partner with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to bring Experience AI to India, with the aim to introduce students to artificial intelligence (AI) through free cutting-edge resources based on original research. AI plays a huge role in the world young people are growing up in, and this new partnership is about supporting India’s educators to teach the next generation of AI innovators confidently. This marks the Raspberry Pi Foundation's first partnership of its kind in India.

 

As India's first fully comprehensive, UGC approved international branch campus and part of the prestigious UK Russell Group of universities, University of Southampton Delhi aims to contribute not only to higher education but also to help strengthen the wider school education ecosystem in India through meaningful community engagement and future-focused learning opportunities. Reflecting this commitment, AI modules are embedded across academic programmes at the University, ensuring all students develop the knowledge and skills to apply AI responsibly within their chosen disciplines and future careers and graduate with the knowledge and skills to thrive in an AI-enabled world.

 

Through the Experience AI initiative, the University is extending this approach to school education by introducing foundational AI learning to students and educators across India as part of its engagement to meaningful, relevant and values-aligned community commitment. The initiative aims to train almost 400 school educators and reach approximately 8,000 students in one year.

 

Experience AI, co-developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind,, supports teachers in the exciting and fast-moving area of AI, and gets young people passionate about the subject. Based on rigorous research, teaching materials include lesson plans, slide decks, videos, student activities, and assessments which introduce students to the foundations of AI. Young people will also benefit from new resources on AI safety, including how to protect their data.

 

The launch event on 13 July 2026 featured speeches, presentations and exchange of documents by leadership both at the University of Southampton Delhi and the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

 

University of Southampton Delhi, in collaboration with Tatras Data, will drive the training of school educators, who will subsequently deliver the Experience AI programme to students across public and private schools in India.


AI literacy opens up career opportunities and offers solutions to real-world challenges

Teachers in over 190 countries have already downloaded the Experience AI resources. Now students in India have the opportunity to access the benefits of AI literacy, such as learning skills to solve real-world challenges, and gaining awareness of the range of careers that use AI.
