Design Innovation Center, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) organized an Awareness Programme on "MSME Innovative (Design) Scheme” Industry – Academia Interface under the aegis of Ajit Singhvi Institute Chair Professorship at IIT Roorkee in collaboration with Department of Design, IIT Roorkee; Development and Facilitation Office (DFO-MSME), Haldwani; SIDCUL Manufacturers Association of Uttarakhand (SMAU), Roorkee Chapter; Indian Industries Association (IIA), Roorkee Chapter on February 09, 2026 at Bhagwanpur, District Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The core objective of this scheme is to bring Indian manufacturing sector and Design expertise/ Design fraternity on to a common platform. The scheme aims to provide expert advice by experienced designers for cost-effective solutions of real time design problems, new product development, its continuous improvement and value addition in existing/new products.

Prof. Inderdeep Singh, Dean, Infrastructure and Coordinator, Design Innovation Center, IIT Roorkee, coordinated the event and shared the details of the MSME Innovative (Design) Scheme with the participants from MSME units. Prof. Apurbba Kumar Sharma, Head, Department of Design, IIT Roorkee delivered a lecture on Managing and Transforming Enterprises to Superior Competitiveness, Profitability and Sustainability during the programme. Zuber Ahmed, Office In-charge, Indian Industries Association (IIA), Roorkee Chapter and Officials from Design Innovation Center and Department of Design, IIT Roorkee were present. Additionally, representatives from the various regional industries and MSME units were benefitted from the discussion during the event.
