Physical inactiveness clubbed with genetic factors have been major factors in increasing risk for Diabetes, BP, and cardiovascular diseases: Indus Health Plus Abnormality Report
Chennai: On World Health Day, Indus Health Plus – a pioneer in preventive healthcare conducted a study based on the health check-ups. The study revealed that factors like physical inactiveness, genetic risk, stress, and unhealthy lifestyle play a major role in the rise of Diabetes, BP, and cardiovascular diseases amongst people across different age-groups. The sample size for the study was 21000 people who underwent preventive health check-up during April 2021 – March 2022.
Indus Health Plus Abnormality report states that 31% of the people tested for Blood Sugar Levels were in the borderline or the prediabetic range, out of which 30% were females and 32% were males. 20% out of total (18% females and 22% males), had their levels in the Diabetic range. They require managing this condition in consultation with a Diabetologist/Physician and need to plan a proper diet and routine to keep it under control.
Besides that, 31% of the people tested for low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were there in the borderline high range whereas 40% had the levels more than 130 mg/dl (Normal range < 100 mg/dl). In addition to this, 26% of the people tested had high blood pressure out of which 13% had systolic blood pressure above 140 mm Hg. One of the defining factors for Hypertension is when the systolic blood pressure is above 130 mm Hg.
