PM Modi launches nationwide anti-drug campaign for youth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, a nationwide campaign encouraging young people to stay away from substance abuse and contribute to building a developed India.

Addressing the virtual launch event on Sunday, Modi said achieving the vision of a developed nation requires physically and mentally healthy youth. He stressed that drug addiction affects not only individuals but also families, communities and the country as a whole.

The initiative begins a 100-week public participation campaign, during which awareness programmes will be organised every Sunday across India.

Planned activities include sports competitions, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural events, street plays, discussion forums, art contests and community outreach programmes aimed at promoting a drug-free society.

Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the campaign builds upon the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan launched in 2020 with the objective of reducing substance abuse nationwide.
