Rainbow Children’s Hospital Hosts ‘Happy Vibes’ for Children with Developmental Needs
Marking a one-of-its-kind inclusive celebration, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, India’s leading chain of pediatric multi-specialty and perinatal hospitals, organised “Happy Vibes” at its Sholinganallur unit, in the presence of developmental experts led by Dr. Perumal Sathya S, Dr. Akila Sivakumar, and a team of specialists.
In India developmental differences account for around 5 -10 percent in children. Rainbow Children’s Hospital has established a comprehensive Child Development Centre across its network, offering multidisciplinary evaluation and intervention services tailored to the developmental needs of children, ensuring continuous and holistic care beyond clinical treatment. Despite persistent social stigma, Rainbow Children’s Hospital has consistently created platforms that enable these children to express themselves and showcase their abilities. This year’s theme, “Happy Vibes,” focused on celebrating individuality, confidence, and joy.
The event brought together over 20 children along with their parents, all of whom participated enthusiastically in a series of engaging activities and performances. The children showcased their talents through a variety of performances, including fancy dress, dance, singing, and recitation of Thirukkural couplets, reflecting their abilities, confidence, and enthusiasm.
Interactive games conducted by therapists and staff encouraged participation from both children and parents, fostering a sense of togetherness. Gifts were distributed to all participating children, adding to the celebratory spirit. Trainers from Self Care Activity & Fitness (SCAF) Academy engaged the children in structured physical activities and emphasised the importance of regular exercise in supporting overall development, as part of ongoing efforts to expand dedicated physical training support for children with developmental needs. Parents also actively participated, further enhancing the inclusive and supportive environment of the event.
Dr. Perumal Sathya S, Consultant – Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of creating inclusive spaces for children with developmental needs. “Developmental conditions in children affect communication, behaviour, and social interaction, with a growing disease burden globally and in India. It is both heartwarming and emotional to create a space that brings children and parents together, allowing us to identify, nurture, and showcase each child’s unique potential,” she said.
Mr. John Paul Vijay, Facility Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Sholingnallur, added, “At Rainbow Children’s Hospital, we are committed to going beyond clinical care by creating meaningful experiences that empower children and support families. ‘Happy Vibes’ reflects our continued effort to build an inclusive ecosystem where every child feels valued, encouraged, and celebrated.”
The event concluded on a joyful and meaningful note, reinforcing Rainbow Children’s Hospital’s commitment to inclusive care, through clinical excellence and by empowering children with developmental needs through platforms that celebrate their individuality and potential.
