World Vision India in Partnership with Hyundai Steel Hosted the 23rd Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers Program in Kanchipuram.

Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, 26th July 2019 : World Vision India and Hyundai Steelhosted the Happy Safe Village Project- 23rd Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers program from 17thof July to 24thof Jul 2019 in Aya Kolathurvillage, Kanchipuram District.63 volunteers from different universities of the Republic of Korea and 6 volunteers from India were part of the Youth Volunteers Program.The initiative is aimed at improving the infrastructure in the government schools, enhancing the health seeking behavior among villagers and creating an enabling environment for children.
The volunteers were engaged in transforming government primary schools and ICDS centres of Aya Kolathur and AN Kandigaivillages into Child FriendlyCentres/ Schools.  The volunteers came together and used creativity and arts to engage with the community and children. They gave a helping hand in building noon meal centres and paint the classroom walls.
Speaking about the volunteer engagement program, Mr. Chae Bong Suk, Managing Director- Hyundai Steel India said “Hyundai Steel’s Corporate Social Responsibility aims to create child-friendlygovernment schools to improve learning outcomes. We are also extending infrastructural support to government primary schools which are aimed to encourage children to enjoy learning”.

“We thank the volunteers for extending their support in making the schools a happy and safe place for children.,” said Ms. Christabel Kalaiselvi, Group Director- Operations, World Vision India. She further added that, “World Vision Indiahas been working on various interventions for improving the quality of education in government schools. Such an initiative is a huge moral booster for the authorities as well as children”. 

As part of this initiative,Hyundai Steelhas sanctioned 60 solar streetlights and 2 high mast lightswhich would benefit 6 villages of Sengadu, Kiloy and Mannur Panchayats-Sriperumbudur Block.
