Chennai, April 20, 2017: Now every youngster can learn to row… by enrolling for the Summer Camp at Madras Boat Club, a 150-year-old institution located on the banks of the Adyar River at R.A. Puram, Chennai.
The Camp, an annual tradition at the Club, will be held from April 24 to May 23, and all activities are designed to introduce aspirants to the sport of rowing.
The summer camp starts on April 24, 2017, for a duration of one month from 6.00 am to 8.00 am. The fees for the camp is Rs. 2000 per student.
Rowing is one of the disciplines in the Olympics. It calls for high levels of fitness, endurance and mental strength. Madras Boat Club, a pioneer of rowing in South India, has produced rowers who have excelled in championships at the inter-club, national and international level.
The Rowing Summer Camp will include –
* Land Training for fitness – warm up exercises, Circuit Training, core strengthening and jogging.
* Introduction to Rowing in a fixed boat (Bank Tub).
* Ergometer Training Basics.
* Introduction to Rowing on the water.
Knowledge of Swimming is essential for all participants. Applicants must be in the age group of 12 – 20 years, and a bonafide student of a school or college in Chennai.
