Centre Distributes Kerosene to States for 60 Days

The Government of India has decided to provide extra kerosene to States and Union Territories through the Public Distribution System (PDS). This move is a temporary step that will last for 60 days. It is mainly meant to reduce the pressure on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which many households use for cooking.

Under this plan, kerosene will be supplied to 21 States and Union Territories that earlier did not receive it through the PDS. This is an important change, as it will allow more families to access an alternative fuel during a time when LPG supply is limited or difficult to get.

Kerosene can be used for both cooking and lighting, especially in areas where people may not have easy access to other energy sources. By providing this fuel, the government aims to ensure that households can continue their daily activities without major disruptions.

Officials have said this is a short-term solution to help people manage during the current situation. The additional supply is expected to support families, especially those in rural and low-income areas, by giving them a basic and affordable fuel option.

The government has also asked States and Union Territories to make sure the kerosene is distributed properly and reaches the people who need it most. This step is part of broader efforts to maintain energy supply and support citizens during challenging times.
