Mohammed Siraj Hurt in Test Match
ndian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj left the field after suffering a suspected rib injury during Day 4 of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The incident happened during Sri Lanka’s second innings after India enforced the follow-on
The injury occurred during the 11th over of Sri Lanka’s innings. Manav Suthar bowled a delivery to Pasindu Sooriyabandara. The batter attempted to play a big shot but failed to make proper contact with the ball. The ball went high in the air after taking a top edge.
Siraj was positioned at deep mid-wicket and quickly moved towards the ball to take the catch. He dived in an attempt to complete the catch but was unable to hold on to the ball. He landed heavily on his side after the dive.
Siraj immediately appeared to be in pain and held the area around his ribs. The Indian team’s medical staff quickly came onto the field to check on him. After receiving initial treatment, Siraj was taken off the field for further assessment.
The extent of Siraj’s injury was not immediately known. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had not released an official update on his condition at the time of the incident. The team is expected to monitor his injury and conduct further medical checks.
Siraj had already made an important contribution to India’s bowling effort earlier in the innings. He took the wicket of Lahiru Udara and was playing an active role in India’s attempt to control the Sri Lankan batting lineup.
His injury could be a concern for India, particularly because fast bowlers have an important role to play during long Test matches. The team management will be hoping that the injury is not serious and that Siraj can return to the field if required.
The Indian team will continue to assess Siraj’s condition as the match progresses. More information about his fitness is expected once the medical team completes its evaluation
