COLORS Tamil set to spruce up prime time content with the launch of new fiction show, Myna

Chennai, 6th June 2019: Set to showcase the myriad of emotions in an intense battle to freedom, COLORS Tamil announced the launch of Myna – a riveting tale of bonded labour narrated through the eyes of a young, free-spirited girl. Premiering on 10th June 2019, the new show will trail the journey of a seven-year-old girl, who becomes the central force in the fight for good vs evil. Carrying the theme of vicious, social issue – bonded labour, that is still widely prevalent in 21st Century, Myna will unravel the emotions and turmoil of a poverty stricken family who are forced to trade their unborn child as collateral for money, from every Monday to Friday at 8:30 PM on COLORS Tamil.

The newly launched show, Myna captures the dynamics of socio-economic divide that pushed several families from across villages into bonded labour. With the families facing harsh realities of power-play and struggles to endure their everyday labour, Myna is born as a promise of freedom. Born into a system of injustice and enslavement, the intriguing story trails Myna’s resilience and courage to take on the antagonist, Singaperumal, a local political honcho and wealthy landlord in her own charming free-spirited manner.

Commenting on the show, Mr. Anup Chandrasekharan, Business Head – COLORS Tamil, said, “Bonded labour is a national issue and still widely prevalent in 21st century. The issue needs attention from various stakeholders, and we intend to play the catalyst role in bringing to forefront the grappling struggles faced by these labourers through Myna. It takes great courage and resilience to overcome challenges in life, which our COLORS Tamil leading ladies have showcased since our inception. Today, we are happy to welcome the youngest and the boldest Myna into our COLORS Tamil family, who is going to shoulder one of the intense story lines with all her charm. We hope that our audiences will join Myna on her journey from innocence, realization, hope, freedom and achievement.”

Adding to this, Nithyanandan‪, Director – Myna, said “Myna is the story of not just one child but many who struggle to break free from the shackles of bonded labour in a modern world. The show with its powerful story line, will take the audience on a journey filled with resonating emotions of courage and conviction to fight injustice. Myna’s rebellious yet delightful nature in her battle with Singaperumal is sure to strike a chord with the audience.
