Rita Date, a highly respected Wellness Coach and author, has been honored with the coveted Chanakya Award in the category of “Author of the Year.” The accolade recognizes her latest book, Fighting Cancer with the Thali, and was presented at the 19th Global Communication Conclave held in Goa.
The prestigious event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Governor of Goa; Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India; and Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.
Fighting Cancer with the Thali is a comprehensive guide on how individuals can proactively prevent cancer and effectively mitigate the side effects of treatment through informed dietary choices, should they receive a diagnosis.
Rita Date brings two decades of experience to the wellness space. As a seasoned nutritionist, she has authored two books focused on health and diet. Her first book addressed the rising obesity crisis in India, advocating for the importance of home-packed meals.
“Fighting Cancer with the Thali has been a labor of love, built on the belief that what we eat is one of our most powerful tools for health,” said Rita Date. “To be recognized with the Chanakya Award is an immense honor, and I hope it helps spread the message of holistic wellness to an even wider audience.”

To offer diverse options for practitioners, she founded The Breathing Room in Pune, which provides various yoga and meditation traditions.
“Try them all and find what works for you!” is her encouraging message to those exploring these ancient practices.
Rita Date holds a BA in Journalism from Boston College and an MBA from UMass Amherst, complemented by various professional certificates in Nutrition, Yoga, and Meditation. When she is not coaching or writing, she enjoys hiking in the Himalayas, spending time with her family, reading, and studying yoga philosophy.
