A computer lab with 12 computers, and a Training room with a projector, has been set- up at SOS Children’s Village of India - Chatnath Homes - Chennai
Caregivers, between 30-40 years of age, have enrolled for the 3-month certification course by NSDC and Skill India; 100% employability to be ensured upon successful completion of the course, with a salary ranging between Rs. 8000 – Rs. 15,000
Chennai, 20th July, 2022: Leading multinational banking software company, Temenos India, supported SOS Children’s Villages of India, the largest self-implementing childcare NGO of the country, set-up a computer lab worth Rs. 55 lakhs with 12 computers and a Training room with a projector. In addition, women caregivers from communities served by the SOS Children’s Villages of India’s – Chatnath Homes- Family Strengthening Programme will be offered a 3-month course in Basic Computer Application by NSDC and Skill India to enhance employability.
Temenos India, a leading multinational banking software company aims at supporting women belonging to vulnerable sections of society with basic computer literacy for employability. The first batch is being conducted for 15 – 20 women between the age group of 30-40 years of East Tambaram Communities, one of the 6 clusters supported by SOS Children’s Villages of India – Chatnath Homes, under their Family Strengthening Programme. The selection criteria for the course requires the women to have a minimum education of class X; once selected, a document verification procedure will be conducted. Following the successful completion of the 3-month course, the women will receive guaranteed employment opportunities in the retail sector with salaries ranging between Rs.8000 to Rs. 15,000.

As part of the curriculum, the Basic Computer Application course will impart knowledge about the fundamentals of computers, a Windows overview, MS Office, emails, and internet. The caregivers will also be provided with a one-week skill training programme on personality development to help them perform well in interviews, decision making etc., for which a certificate will also be provided, after successful completion of the 7-days training.
The Family Strengthening Programme by SOS Children’s Villages of India is a preventive measure through which the families belonging to the most vulnerable sections of the society dealing with poverty, social discrimination and other grave challenges are strengthened to avoid child-abandonment.
