CHILDLINE India Foundation participates in Hausla Week 2019
-CHILDLINE India Foundation anchored Abhivy kati and recreational activities for children from Childcare Institutions across state
-Smt. Smriti Irani, Union Minister, WCD&Mr. Gautam Gambhir, ex-cricketer and Member of Parliamentgraced the occasion with their esteemed presence.
-Close to 800 children from 24 States and Union Territories participated
Hausla 2019, an event aimed to inspire and provide a platform for children residing in childcare institutions was hosted by The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), in association with The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) and CHILDLINE India Foundation. The event took place from 19th to 21st December 2019 in the capital, with the objective of providing children from childcare homes a medium to explore and nurture their hidden talent. Thefestival saw 800 children from across the country come together and learn, share and compete in different cultural activities.
In the four-day event, CHILDLINE India Foundation organized two events, namely Abhivyakti and a birthday party. Abhivyakti is a platform given to children to express themselves and their ideas, thoughts, beliefs using mediums such as music, dance, speech, writing and such other forms. Such activities help fostering mutual learning among the kids as well as bring out their creativity which is often remains unseen due to lack of appropriate mediums. The birthday party on the other hand had some recreational activities for the kids like puppet shows, magic shows and bouncing castles to new a few. The event also saw the presence of Honorable Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Smriti Irani encouraging the kids and facilitating support. The Chief Guest for the event was ex-cricketer and Member of Parliament, Shri. Gautam Gambhir. The event was held at NIPCCD campus and Thyagaraj Stadium. The children from Odisha Took the winners tag and theChhattisgarh kids were the runner ups.
Speaking on the activities, Dr. Anjaiah Pandiri, Executive Director, CHILDLINE INDIA FOUNDATION, says,“It is very heartening to see children from different childcare institutions express themselves so creatively and freely. Every child is unique, indeed. Hausla is a great opportunity for children to bring out their hidden talents in the limelight and create a better future.”
CHILDLINE is present in 543+ districts and 117 railway stations, covering over 75% of the country. The long-term goal is for CHILDLINE to be present in every district and provide pan-India access and protection for children. CHILDLINE India Foundation is the nodal agency appointed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India to initiate, implement and monitor CHILDLINE 1098 services across the country.

CHILDLINE (1098) is India’s first and only 24-hour, toll-free, emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection, linking them to long-term services for rehabilitation. Any child or concerned adult who calls the 1098 helpline number is provided with emergency assistance. Based on the child’s need, he/she is referred to a relevant organization for crisis intervention and long-term rehabilitation and follow-up. CHILDLINE works in tandem with multiple stakeholders, including the government, civil society organizations, corporations and community, to ensure that child’s protection becomes everyone’s mandate.
