 Coronavirus in India: Over 1,000 cases, 23 deaths in 24 hours take tally past 13,000

More than a thousand cases and 23 deaths in 24 hours have taken the total number of novel coronavirus cases in India past the 13,000-mark on Friday.

According to the Union health ministry’s updated figures on Friday morning, the total number of cases in India reached 13,387. The total tally includes 11,201 active cases while 1,748 have been either discharged or cured. The total number of cases includes 76 foreign nationals.

The death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 437 after 23 fatalities were recorded on Friday.

According to the ministry's data on Friday, most confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country are from Maharashtra at 3,205 followed by Delhi at 1,640 and Tamil Nadu at 1,267.

In Madhya Pradesh, Covid-19 cases have gone up to 1,120 in Madhya Pradesh followed by 1,131 in Rajasthan, 930 in Gujarat and 805 in Uttar Pradesh. Telengana has 700 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 534 and Kerala at 395.

The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 315 in Karanataka, 314 in Jammu and Kashmir, 255 in West Bengal, 205 in Haryana and 186 in Punjab.

Bihar has reported 80 Covid-19 cases, while Odisha has 60 coronavirus cases. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Assam have 35 cases each and Chhattisgarh has registered 33 cases.

Jharkhand has 28 cases, Chandigarh has 21 cases and Ladakh has 18, while 11 cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Meghalaya, Goa and Puducherry have reported seven infections each, Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have reported a case each.
