Novotel Hyderabad Airport in association with Telangana Tourism joins hands in restoring lakes
Novotel Hyderabad Airport joins hands with Telangana Tourism in implementing Recycled Floating Treatment Wetland (RFTW) initiative. The program is a part of AccorHotels sustainability program ‘Acting Here Planet 21’, and is organized to restore our lakes & use sustainable technology for wastewater treatment.
The Recycled Floating Treatment Wetland (RFTW) Recycled Floating Treatment Wetland (RFTW) which is invented by ITS 6TH WOW, an NGO working for world eco-tourism in connection with United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Madrid-Spain. NGO's unique idea of RFTW is the usage of used plastic bottles to form a floating raft on which hydroponic plantation is placed. The hydroponic plants planted on this raft purify the polluted lakes with their roots and hence keeps the lake healthy and keeps the lake away from aquatic weeds and hyacinth. The roots of the hydroponics absorb all the nutrients such as nitrates, phosphates, etc., and releases oxygen into the water. This leads to the betterment of the ecosystem of Lake Environment.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Rubin Cherian, General Manager, Novotel Hyderabad Airport said “We at Novotel Hyderabad Airport are committed to do everything within our scope for the improvement of our society. We aim to create awareness on sustainable development by mobilizing our employees, guests, and partners to actively contribute to the society. The initiative is taken to restore the lakes and keep the environment safe & healthy.”
