In an extraordinary milestone that is redefining the boundaries of school-level education in India, the Young Scientist of Tamil Nadu (YST) 2025 initiative has achieved a feat many experts deemed impossible: enabling school students to register more than 35 patents.

Organized by Propeller Technologies and hosted at the JJ College of Engineering and Technology in Trichy, this groundbreaking development marks a historic first in the country's educational landscape. The event has officially emerged as more than a mere science competition; it is a transformative platform actively nurturing India’s next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.

Celebrating the Champions

The highlights of the event were the exceptional student projects that solved real-world problems. The following innovators were recognized for their outstanding contributions:

  • THE GRAND CHAMPIONS Project: Ecoscan Kiosk Innovators: Tanushka Vijay & Sanjhana Vijay School: BVM Global BHS Impact: Awarded ₹1,00,000 for excellence in environmental innovation.

The Rigorous Path to Innovation

The sheer scale of YST 2025 is a testament to the untapped potential within India’s schools. The initiative employed a funnelling process to distinguish genuine, impactful innovation:

  • 3.9 Lakh Student Aspirants: Engaging nearly four lakh students statewide.
  • 16,000+ Student Innovations: Unique projects submitted, representing countless hours of research.
  • 2,580 Finalists: A select group shortlisted to showcase working prototypes in Trichy.

The Shift: From Classrooms to Patents and Startups

What sets YST apart is its commitment to taking student innovation beyond the classroom. While traditional competitions end with a trophy, YST facilitates Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for its participants. This process introduces students to legal frameworks and commercialization—skills crucial for the inventors of tomorrow. In addition to patenting, YST has supported the launch of 6+ student startups, helping young entrepreneurs transform prototypes into market-ready businesses.

A Vision for the Future

"At Propeller, we believe that innovation isn't reserved for adults—it's a mindset that starts in the classroom," says Aashik Rahman, Founder of Propeller Technologies. "Seeing these students secure 35+ patents proves that our children don't just learn about the future; they build it. These are the intellectual foundations for a self-reliant, scientific India."
