PM Modi reaffirms support for Kuwait, calls for dialogue amid West Asia tensions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reaffirmed India’s firm opposition to any attacks that undermine Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a telephone conversation with Kuwait’s Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, amid continuing instability in West Asia.

The discussion took place against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions and reports that an Indian citizen was killed in an airstrike near Kuwait International Airport, prompting concerns about the impact of the conflict on civilians and expatriate communities in the region.

According to an official readout of the call, the two leaders reviewed recent developments in West Asia and discussed the worsening security situation across the region.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi expressed concern over the ongoing escalation and reiterated India’s strong stance against actions that violate Kuwait’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

He also underscored India’s consistent view that diplomatic engagement and dialogue remain the most effective means of addressing regional disputes and preventing further escalation.

The leaders exchanged perspectives on the evolving crisis and emphasised the importance of efforts aimed at restoring stability and peace in the region.
