Punjab Concludes Successful Investor Roadshow in Chennai; Strong Industry Interest Across Sectors

After impactful outreach programmes across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Gurugram, the Government of Punjab today successfully concluded its Chennai Investor Roadshow, led by Hon’ble Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power, Shri Sanjeev Arora, accompanied by senior officers from Department of Industries & Commerce & Invest Punjab.

The delegation held a series of highly productive one-on-one meetings throughout the day with leading companies from Tamil Nadu’s core industries, including IT & Digital Services, Auto Components, Agri & Food Processing, Clean Mobility, Electronics, Heavy Engineering, Healthcare, Logistics, Textiles and Data Centre operations. Several companies showed strong interest in evaluating Punjab for capacity expansion, EV manufacturing, engineering services, precision tooling, food processing, and digital development centres.

Executives appreciated Punjab’s transparent and predictable policy regime, the unified regulator model under Invest Punjab, and the ability to directly engage with senior decision-makers. Many firms expressed business interest in and around Mohali, Rajpura and Ludhiana, partnerships with Punjab’s MSME ecosystem, and leveraging the region as a strategic base for the North Indian market, NCR cluster and upcoming defence corridors.

The evening session at Chennai began with highlighting the State’s competitive strengths, sectoral opportunities, and the FastTrack Punjab Portal—India’s most advanced single-window system offering time-bound approvals and auto-deemed clearances.

The experience-sharing segment featured impactful interventions from industry leaders representing the Murugappa Group and Bahwan CyberTek. A senior representative from the Murugappa Group shared that the conglomerate employs nearly 1,600 people directly in Punjab’s bicycle and auto-component ecosystem. He noted that setting up operations in Punjab had been “extremely satisfying,” praising the State’s fast clearances, transparent processes, and hardworking, fast-learning workforce. He added that as India accelerates towards electric mobility, the Group is expanding its EV focus and encouraged the Punjab Government to continue supporting the sector.

The Board Director of Bahwan CyberTek highlighted Punjab’s growing appeal for IT and digital enterprises, praising its infrastructure, connectivity and talent. He remarked that Mohali is emerging as the next Gurugram of North India, driven by its aspirational environment for young professionals. He further emphasised that Punjab’s power-surplus advantage creates a strong foundation for Data Centres, urging industry leaders to explore the State’s expanding opportunities.

In his address, Hon’ble Minister Shri Sanjeev Arora shared that the delegation had rounds of meetings during the day and the eager, positive response from investors across sectors was extremely encouraging. He appreciated the audience for their enthusiastic participation and for raising questions on MSME benefits, healthcare expansion, AI-led innovation, manufacturing prospects, renewable energy, and emerging investment opportunities.

The Minister also noted that just two days ago, Punjab received a national award from the Government of India as a Top Achiever in Ease of Doing Business, affirming the State’s reform-led governance model. Emphasising Punjab’s unmatched connectivity and investor-centric ethos, he said the State treats every investor as a VIP, ensuring a genuine red-carpet rollout.

He highlighted that under the strengthened Right to Business Act, Punjab now grants in-principle approval within just five working days for units inside approved industrial parks, while all other projects outside RTBA are compulsorily decided within 45 working days. The Minister added that Punjab has received ₹1.37 lakh crore of serious, on-ground investments—not MoUs—through its single window system, generating nearly five lakh employment opportunities.

He reiterated that Punjab operates India’s most advanced single window portal, featuring auto-deemed approvals, strict digital protocols, transparency, speed and accountability, making it one of the country’s most dependable destinations for industrial investment.

The session concluded with an open interaction between industry representatives and senior officers of the Government of Punjab. The Chennai outreach marked another strong step in Punjab’s nationwide engagement ahead of the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026.
