Quiz on stem cells and regenerative medicine: The Fujio Cup Quiz 21st Edition in NCRM NICHE 2026
The Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ) on stem cells and regenerative medicine, which has been conducted annually since 2006, will be conducted this year on 11th October 2026 (Sunday), and the deadline for registration is 30th July 2026 through the portal: www.ncrmniche.org. Scholars of medicine, dentistry, biomaterials and engineering sciences, in the age group of 20–32 years, who are bonafide students of any institute globally, can join by registering for the FCQ. Since 2006, a total of 3645 scholars from 186 institutions from 23 countries have participated in the FCQ and those who qualified as finalists have several privileges.
This Active Knowledge Gaining (AKG) event, the FCQ is one and only of its kind in the world and has earlier been documented to fuel competitiveness among students and studies have shown that students from such systems can become the inventors and discoverers of tomorrow’s technologies for the betterment of the future.
Those who enrol for the FCQ also get registered for the Passive Knowledge Gaining (PKG) event of NCRM NICHE 2026 on 11th October, 2026, during which Dr. Srinivas K. Rao will deliver a plenary lecture titled “Cell-Based Therapies for Ocular Surface Diseases.” Prof. Dr. Muralidhar L. Hegde will deliver a lecture titled “Development of SH-SY5Y Cell Lines and Its Significance in Addressing Diseases Originating Due to Protein Misfolding at the Cellular Level” in the Interdisciplinary Conclave (IDC).
NCRM NICHE was started in 2006 in India and was conducted in Japan between 2017 and 2019, following which it became an international virtual knowledge-propagation event for worldwide reach. NCRM NICHE has been a platform for the development of several innovative technologies in regenerative medicine, such as the BHES-HAUS (Buccal Epithelium Hashed and Encapsulated in Scaffold – Hybrid Approach to Urethral Stricture), LHES-HARC (Limbal Epithelium Hashed & Encapsulated in Scaffold - Hybrid Approach to Regeneration of the Corneal epithelium), STAR-MING and a novel biological response modifier drug adjuvant, the Neu-REFIX for the rare disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).
