Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visits rain-hit areas
Chennai: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman today inspected rain-hit areas in the city. However, she was part of a BJP team and a formal group from the Central government is expected to visit the State early next week. Along with State BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan and others, Nirmala heard the plight of residents at Mudichur and promised quick help.
The Commerce Minister was set to visit the rain-hit areas of Kancheepuram district, including Tambaram and Manimangalam, and south Chennai areas like Velacheri, Taramani and Madipakkam. "A detailed report will be submitted to the party leadership," said Nirmala.
Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Pon Radhakrishnan toured the affected areas of Cuddalore district this morning. Tamilisai had already inspected the rain-ravaged areas and submitted a detailed report to the party leadership.
Nirmala will also be visiting Tiruvallur district and industrial areas like Ambattur and Avadi tomorrow before leaving for Delhi.
